we're alive!!

ok, ok. i know it's been over a month since i've blogged. gasp! i honestly don't know how i let this little blog get away from me...

oh wait, yes i do!! he's almost 18 months old, adorable, and lots of fun to chase around while 9 months pregnant :)

i mean seriously, who could resist this little guy?

i'd much rather spend my days oogling over his soft skin and semi-toothy smile than being stuck in front of my computer!

so, i honestly have so much to blog about from the last 7+ weeks with our little greer that i'm too overwhelmed to even know where to start! all i really have the energy to say right now is that life is so good. and to be completely honest, after the first few weeks home with our little love, i wasn't so sure when i'd be able to say that again. i'm pretty sure i've mentioned this, but the first couple weeks with our little man were rough! i went to bed most nights feeling like i had just run a marathon that i never signed up for. thankfully, that's not the case any more. after many tearful cries to the Lord, moments of sheer terror over my inadequacies, and phone calls to my mommy, i think we're in our new normal.

already in 7 short weeks, i can see how God has created greer to be a sweeney. He has woven our little man into our hearts and lives in such a way that i honestly forget most of the time what life was like before greer was my son! greer has such a funny little personality. he keeps me entertained pretty much all day with his silly ways, and at times, spunky little attitude. he's also very verbal, and is constantly singing or belting out various strands of jibber jabber. it has particularly amazed me how quickly he has picked up so many words...english and amharic! his english vocabulary alone already includes: "up", "mommy", "daddy", "doggie", "no", "go", "more", "hi", "bye bye", "pwease" {except it sounds more like "mease"}, "nana", "mimi", "happy", "pawpaw", "poppy", "diva" {my sister's self-declared title for herself}, and "nigh night". call me proud, but i think that's a pretty extensive vocabulary for not even being an english speaker of 8 weeks!!

anyways, i have so much more to share, but that's all i have time for now. i basically just wanted to let the bloggy world know that we're alive and well. little charlotte is still hanging out in her nest inside my belly. i have 12 days until my due date but i'm hoping she makes her appearance sooner than later!!! my hands and feet started swelling pretty steadily last week and my back feels like i've been in a car accident recently, so some relief from all these fun side effects is welcome. PLUS, i just want to meet her! 9 months is a long time to love a little person without "knowing" them :)

hope you all are well and thanks for checking in on us! my goal for my time laboring in the hospital is to read my 650+ blog updates on google reader from all of your blogs. think i can do it? ha. i guess we'll see!

Glad to hear from you! I can't believe you are due next week. Once things settle down after charlotte makes her arrival, we will have to get together.

I met your friend Sarah at Arise yesterday. :)
