bracing for baby Charlotte

here's my sister and i on easter sunday. i'm officially 9 months preggo in this picture and looking quite large!!

i can't believe that sometime VERY soon we will be adding child #2 to our family. so much for our new groove, huh? :) the last month i have been consumed with thoughts about what our little girl will look like, who she will grow up to be, and how our lives will change with a new princess in the mix.

as the only current female in our household {yes, even our dogs, fenway and yawkey, are both BOYS}, i'm looking forward to a splash of pink at last! however, i've never had to do the whole daughter thing before so that's pretty scary... i mean boys are rough, a little smelly, and constantly climbing on things but that's all i know as a parent so that's pretty normal. i myself was quite the least until i discovered g@p kids around 4th grade, so maybe little charley will follow suit.

anyways, i just can't wait to meet her! i went to the doctor today and was quite pleased to find out that we're making some good progress. my doctor said that it could literally be ANY day...and i believe her. already today i've been experiencing quite a few series of contractions {nothing super consistent yet but i'm hopeful!}. in fact, before ryan got home from work tonight, i thought i was seriously going to blow any second. i spent the afternoon furiously working on switching out clothes in greer's closet so that i don't have to worry about it in the next few months. then i took it upon myself to pack ryan's clothes for the hospital, finish laundry, and do some last minute housekeeping just in case something happens soon. all that running around and being on my feet must have been overdoing it a bit! when ryan got home, he sent me to bed for awhile and my contractions stopped. although i've never done this before, i think that's a good sign??

so, i will keep you posted when we meet our daughter! for now, i'm hitting the bed and leaving you with this picture from easter sunday of greer with his cousins...

i hope our little man is more excited about becoming a big brother than he is about having his picture taken :)

we're alive!!

ok, ok. i know it's been over a month since i've blogged. gasp! i honestly don't know how i let this little blog get away from me...

oh wait, yes i do!! he's almost 18 months old, adorable, and lots of fun to chase around while 9 months pregnant :)

i mean seriously, who could resist this little guy?

i'd much rather spend my days oogling over his soft skin and semi-toothy smile than being stuck in front of my computer!

so, i honestly have so much to blog about from the last 7+ weeks with our little greer that i'm too overwhelmed to even know where to start! all i really have the energy to say right now is that life is so good. and to be completely honest, after the first few weeks home with our little love, i wasn't so sure when i'd be able to say that again. i'm pretty sure i've mentioned this, but the first couple weeks with our little man were rough! i went to bed most nights feeling like i had just run a marathon that i never signed up for. thankfully, that's not the case any more. after many tearful cries to the Lord, moments of sheer terror over my inadequacies, and phone calls to my mommy, i think we're in our new normal.

already in 7 short weeks, i can see how God has created greer to be a sweeney. He has woven our little man into our hearts and lives in such a way that i honestly forget most of the time what life was like before greer was my son! greer has such a funny little personality. he keeps me entertained pretty much all day with his silly ways, and at times, spunky little attitude. he's also very verbal, and is constantly singing or belting out various strands of jibber jabber. it has particularly amazed me how quickly he has picked up so many words...english and amharic! his english vocabulary alone already includes: "up", "mommy", "daddy", "doggie", "no", "go", "more", "hi", "bye bye", "pwease" {except it sounds more like "mease"}, "nana", "mimi", "happy", "pawpaw", "poppy", "diva" {my sister's self-declared title for herself}, and "nigh night". call me proud, but i think that's a pretty extensive vocabulary for not even being an english speaker of 8 weeks!!

anyways, i have so much more to share, but that's all i have time for now. i basically just wanted to let the bloggy world know that we're alive and well. little charlotte is still hanging out in her nest inside my belly. i have 12 days until my due date but i'm hoping she makes her appearance sooner than later!!! my hands and feet started swelling pretty steadily last week and my back feels like i've been in a car accident recently, so some relief from all these fun side effects is welcome. PLUS, i just want to meet her! 9 months is a long time to love a little person without "knowing" them :)

hope you all are well and thanks for checking in on us! my goal for my time laboring in the hospital is to read my 650+ blog updates on google reader from all of your blogs. think i can do it? ha. i guess we'll see!
